The Y-LAB met at OneRail this week to hold its third quarter meeting with its four new members. The members reviewed how the Y-LAB was engaging with young rail professionals and opportunities to expand channels and approaches.

The Y-LAB also discussed the next phase of the pilot Rail Ambassador program and planning. We presented a filming guide to members on developing ‘day in the life’ videos to further support the ARA’s Work in Rail campaign to encourage people to the rail industry, and discussed planning progress for the Young Rail Professionals Balls.

The Y-LAB also undertook a site visit to Port Waratah Coal Services to see how rail supports their operations as well as the coordination and scale of coal movements, and the interactions with various stakeholders and clients, including freight rail operators and infrastructure managers.

While in Newcastle, the Y-LAB hosted a Young Rail Professionals meet and greet to provide an opportunity to connect with young rail employees in the Hunter region and support the broadening of a rail network for the next generation of rail employees.
