Sustainable Futures

The transport sector is at the heart of our communities and has a key role to play in supporting sustainable cities and towns.

Placemaking – planning sustainable infrastructure

By taking a placemaking approach to better plan our infrastructure, we can reduce travel distances between home, work, school and other community spaces, and make it easier to access low-emissions alternatives such as public transport.

The Journey to Net Zero report outlines challenges and opportunities for decarbonisation across the transport sector, with an emphasis on placemaking. This report provides case studies and recommendations for collective action across the transport sector to accelerate progress, and create a sustainable, net zero transport sector which enhances and reflects the communities it serves.
