The ARA has completed a gender diversity survey based on the Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
The survey provides critical information needed to gain a comprehensive understanding of female participation in the industry in order to progress the ARA’s work to close the gender gap. The ARA releases its Gender Diversity Data Report every two years to track the industry’s progress across Australia and New Zealand.
This will be the fourth time the ARA has conducted the survey over six years. It is sent to our more than 230 members and applies to the period between between 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.
Overall, participation of women in the rail industry has increased to 28 per cent (up from 24 per cent in 2020/21).
The ARA would like to thank participants for their contribution to this research – it will provide an important platform for future policies and programs to enhance diversity and inclusion in rail.
