The ARA 2025 highlights publication provides an overview of the ARA’s key achievements in 2025. In a milestone year for Australia and New Zealand’s rail industry, the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), working with our members and industry, led a coordinated program of policy, advocacy, events and workforce development to progress key priorities for the rail industry across Australia and New Zealand.
Significant highlights for 2025 included:
- 25 submissions and four major research reports launched, including The value of rail 2025 the Australian Rail Procurement Pipeline Annual Report, Building New Zealand Rail Skills for the Future and Delivering Infrastructure Net Zero: Workforce Report
- Launched the Rail Gender Equity Charter, now supported by 54 signatory organisations
- Enrolled 1,619 participants in ARA courses and launched the ARA Professional Certificate in Rail and Respect in Rail
- Announced MTA will continue to deliver the RIW Program, with new functionality enhancements from July 2026, and current fees locked in for a further five years
- 10,697 attendees across ARA events, conferences and webinars, plus 8,685 attendees for AusRAIL PLUS 2025, breaking attendance records
- 112 successful Women in Rail mentoring program partnerships
- 45 participants completing the Future Leaders program
- Launched the ARA Member Capability Directory – a comprehensive resource showcasing the skills, services and expertise of ARA supplier member organisations across the rail industry.
