The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) is inviting the next generation of rail professionals to step forward and make a difference.
The Young Rail Leaders Committee (YRLC), previously known as the Young Leaders Advisory Board (Y-LAB), is accepting applications until Friday 9 May for four new members for the next three-year term to join a passionate, dynamic group driving change across the industry.
The Committee has recently revised its strategy, and there will be opportunities for young rail professionals to provide input into activities to support the strategy via an interactive webinar in coming months.
The Committee has three pillars of focus:
- Give a voice and have a voice
- Build connections and networks
- Attraction and awareness
The Committee represents young rail professionals across Australia and New Zealand – fostering collaboration, sharing insights, offering guidance and promoting the rail industry to the next generation of talent.
If you would like to nominate to be part of the Committee for the next three-year term, please submit your application by next Friday, 9 May.

In April 2025, Y-LAB, established in 2019, evolved into the Committee (YRLC) to better reflect its expanded role and responsibilities. It maintains gender balance and includes representatives from diverse sectors of the rail industry and across different jurisdictions. Members serve three-year terms with four new appointments made each year.
