The ARA has engaged Social Traders to complete new research on First Nations participation and engagement in the rail industry, in partnership with Akina and Humanize Media. The project has been informed via desktop research, member-wide surveys, interviews with First Nations people and organisations, and impact modelling workshops with key stakeholders.
The report will outline enablers and barriers to First Nations participation in the rail industry, how the rail industry is currently engaging with First Nations individuals and businesses, and how social procurement and government targets fit within the wider picture.
The final draft is currently under review and due for launch in early 2025. Preparation is currently underway for ARA actions based on the recommendations anticipated to be in the final report.
