The ARA is seeking First Nations rail employees and business owners to inform a research project that aims to identify enablers and barriers to First Nations participation in the sector. The ARA project is investigating First Nations engagement and employment in the rail sector and is in the final stages of information gathering.

The project, initiated last year, will outline a series of recommendations for the ARA and for industry to foster meaningful engagement.

The ARA is seeking First Nations individuals employed in the rail industry to volunteer for a brief interview, to share experiences and help inform the final report recommendations. We are also seeking feedback (via a survey) from First Nations businesses that have engaged with the rail sector. Interviews and surveys are facilitated by our partners: Humanize Media, a 100 per cent Aboriginal owned consultancy, and Social Traders, pioneers of social enterprise procurement and certification in Australia.

All information received via surveys and interviews is anonymous and any results will be presented in non-identifiable, aggregate format.

For more information, or to contribute to the project, please contact ARA Policy Manager Lauren Ascah.

The ARA thanks our sponsors for their generous support of this project:
