The ARA’s Rail Industry Worker (RIW) program has recently introduced improvements to the sign-on process to make it easier for rail workers to access and navigate the system. The integrated Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality was updated from Wednesday 5 February, with the login page now spread across two steps, although usernames and passwords will remain the same.

The Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Program is a critical pillar of safety, compliance and workforce development across Australia’s rail network, providing a reliable and consistent competency management program for Australian rail industry workers. There are continuous improvements and updates to the underlying software system based on user feedback, available security improvements and an ever-evolving ecosystem.

What is SSO?
Single Sign-On (SSO) is a secure login method that allows you to access multiple systems with just one set of credentials (your email address and password used within your organisation). Instead of using multiple usernames and passwords for each system, you’ll only need to log in once to access the RIW System and any other connected applications your organisation uses. This is enabled where your organisation uses an enterprise authentication software.

What Changes After 5 February 2025?
After this update, users will notice a change in the login process. The login page will now be spread across two steps (username and password). However, usernames and passwords will remain unchanged. Find out more on the RIW news article Reminder: RIW Scheduled Service Outage Tomorrow
