The ARA’s Telecommunication Committee met last Wednesday for its sixth and final meeting for the year, continuing its collaborative work on issues regarding vital telecommunication systems for railways.
Top of the agenda was an update for members covering recent meetings with the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA), with discussions highlighting the need for essential feedback to be provided by the committee.
The group is progressing several important submissions, including recently lodging a paper on implication for Low-Impact Facilities. A further submission to ACMA’s proposed changes to the Numbering Plan, was collectively discussed with the final position due early into next year.
The contribution of all members to submissions has ensured positions represent a coordinated National perspective.
The committee has also been sharing members’ experiences with managing the recent 3G shutdown, benefiting from hearing updates about the National Spectrum Working Group along with learning of relevant work related to Interoperability.
