On Wednesday, the Railway Technical Society of Australasia hosted its NSW/ACT Chapter event on key technical components of the next stage of Canberra Light Rail works, including the engineering decisions being made on the procurement of new dual powered light rail vehicles and retrofitting of all existing LRVs (Light Rail Vehicles) with onboard energy systems, and the technical challenges associated.  

The event was well attended and it is clear that some of the options still being discussed are attracting great attention from Canberra residents. In its five years of operation, Canberra’s light rail has proven tremendously successful, and we look forward to the extension to the network.
