The ARA presented at an Edith Cowan University engineering department webinar held last month for engineering undergraduate students.
The ARA and industry SMEs provided a briefing to undergraduate students about the specific advantages that could be gained through working in the rail industry, including travel, working with cutting edge technology and outstanding career opportunities.
The ARA is working with Edith Cowan University in collaboration with ARA members in Western Australia, including Rio Tinto, PTAWA and Arc Infrastructure, to build three rail engineering units for engineering students, which will be made available from mid-July.
This is part of the ARA’s commitment to creating more educational opportunities and pathways for the rail industry to support a sustainable workforce that meets future demand.
The following courses are under development:
- Railway System Mechanics
- Railway Design, Construction and Maintenance
- Railway Electrical, Control and Signalling Systems
