The ARA is inviting rail organisations to share career updates and news to attract future generations of employees to our industry.

The ARA’s Work in Rail campaign is designed to attract new workers to the rail industry to address the current and anticipated skills shortages which are impacting our member organisations.

We aim to connect job seekers and employers and create pathways for new workers to join the industry, while also enhancing our members’ recruiting and employer branding.

To make these connections we want to share your content about:

· Application dates for graduate programs, apprenticeships, internships and other entry-level roles

· Programmes supporting a more diverse and inclusive workforce

· Training opportunities or school-based STEM programs

· Open days or other opportunities for the public to gain a better appreciation of our industry.

The ARA’s recent The Rail Workforce – An Analytical Overview warned the industry is facing a retirement cliff, with 35 per cent of the Australian rail workforce expected to leave by 2035.

In response, the ARA is engaging with the future generations of rail workers. The Work in Rail campaign demonstrates the rewards of a rail career – financial, professional and personal. We are also communicating how rail supports sustainable and inclusive communities, which are values of high importance for younger workers.

Since the campaign’s launch in April 2023:

· 300,000 people have seen our social media

· over 50,000 people have visited the Work in Rail website

· almost 10,000 people have completed the career quiz.

These strong results have created a platform we can use to support our members.

This is a free opportunity for all ARA member organisations.
