The ARA hosted two tables of our members at the Tourism and Transport Forum’s Industry Luncheon this week, with Andy Lord, Transport for London’s Commissioner, as the special guest.
Mr Lord gave a briefing on the organisation’s vast transportation responsibilities, which also include the Thames Royal Docks and London’s Cable Car.
He spoke about the challenges keeping a city such as London moving as well as their successes in increasing diversity and preventing cycling fatalities.
He also shared their challenges in keeping pace with technology especially autonomous technology, smart infrastructure and electric vehicles, as they all gain momentum, emphasising opportunities for increased efficiency, reduced environmental impact and enhanced user experience.
While it was impressive to hear the progress in this large and complex city, it was also encouraging to be able to draw comparisons with our cities and understand that the progress we are making demonstrates that we are on the right track and achieving great successes.
