The ARA held several site visits on Monday ahead of the ARA Rail Freight Conference in Sydney, giving attendees a wonderful opportunity to get a first-hand view of major freight projects.
A huge thank you to the team at National Intermodal, Qube, and LOGOS for taking us on a tour through the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct and providing some great insights into what this visionary and transformative project is already achieving.
We also toured the Transport for NSW ETCS Integrated Test Lab facility at Clyde, a great example of NSW pioneering procurement to strengthen the Australian market and deliver interoperability and technical best practice.
Thanks to Warwick Talbot, Paul Cassar and the whole ITL team who were generous with their time and expertise.
The ARA’s General Manager Freight and Heavy Haul Georgia Nicholls noted that there is a huge opportunity to build on this leadership to deliver on the operational harmonisation and interoperability necessary to realise our collective aspirations for rail freight efficiency and productivity.
We also visited Patrick Terminals – Sydney Autostrad, which is the largest container terminal in terms of capacity within NSW Ports.
Participants in the site tour were given an insightful on-site briefing, culminating in a unique vantage point from the rooftop of the Patrick control tower, offering a 270 degree view of the automated terminal.
