The ARA Chair Lucio Di Bartolomeo, CEO Caroline Wilkie and COO Emma Woods met with Martinus CEO Treaven Martinus and COO Ryan Baden at their Inland Rail project office on Tuesday. The meeting was an opportunity to hear about the amazing work Martinus is undertaking across Australia and globally, including on the Albury to Parkes section of Inland Rail.

Discussions focused on key industry priorities, including the value of a prequalification process for rail projects in Australia, the benefit that harmonisation of plant and equipment standards to access the rail network nationally would deliver and how mega projects are influencing risk and financial outcomes for contractors.

Martinus is a valuable member of the ARA’s Rail Infrastructure Contractors Executive Committee seeking to drive efficiency improvements for contractors in tendering and procurement.

The Albury to Parkes section involves extensive enhancements to specific sites across the 355 kilometres of existing track running from Albury to Illabo and Stockinbingal to Parkes.

The enhancements would provide the necessary vertical and horizontal clearance along the existing ‘Main South Line’ corridor to support the safe running of double-stacked freight trains up to 1,800 metres long and 6.5 metres high.
