The ARA’s General Manager – Freight and Heavy Haul, Georgia Nicholls attended a monthly roundtable last Friday, hosted by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources on national supply chain issues, following a review of membership and expansion to include the rail sector.
The roundtable, managed by the national Office of Supply Chain Resilience, provides members with direct and regular access to the Government and to each other to share insights on supply chain issues. It also provides the Government direct and regular updates from industry on emerging risks and mitigation efforts. The roundtable is also an avenue for parties to collaborate on critical, urgent supply chain disruptions.
The May meeting focused on supply chain impacts of the announcement that a major national polymer manufacturer Qenos has gone into administration to understand impacts on industry and possible role for government to restore certainty.
Membership includes representative organisations for freight and logistics providers, ports, shipping, warehousing, transport providers, food and beverage, construction materials and agriculture.
Any members with issues of national significance impacting the operations of supply chains that they would like the ARA to raise with the department, please contact Georgia Nicholls via [email protected] or on 0427 552 140.
