The ARA attended Engineers Australia’s Climate Smart Engineering Conference in Brisbane last week to discuss opportunities to transform transport as part of Australia’s transition to net zero.
ARA General Manager Joeley Pettit spoke about the opportunity to drive mode shift, design and build low carbon infrastructure assets and decarbonise transport operations to help meet the country’s net zero targets.
With transport set to become the nation’s largest source of emissions by 2030 if no action is taken, the sector will need to transform how we design, build and operate our transport networks in the years ahead.
The discussion explored the importance of energy certainty to support the sector’s transition, noting the key findings of the ARA’s recently released rollingstock decarbonisation critical path report.
