On Friday, the ARA hosted the latest instalment of the cross-industry Railway Constructor Working Group, representing the major constructors around the country.
It was pleasing to see that a significant part of the agenda was centred around sharing and discussing important safety alerts that have recently been issued with a view to leveraging the good work each of these organisations is engaged in.
There was also a substantial discussion on the practicalities of implementing the soon-to-be-published update to NTC’s National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers.
The changes to the standard represent a positive incremental improvement in this important area and the constructors are to be commended for their proactive efforts in preparing for its arrival.
