Enrolments have now opened for two new university microcredential courses co-created by Deakin University and the ARA. These two microcredentials are designed to support the rail industry in attracting skilled and talented engineers.

The microcredentials will be open to students, as well as industry professionals. You can find more detail on the courses, which start in March, below.

The ARA has been working with subject matter experts in our membership for several months and is very excited about the opportunity for Deakin University students to gain real-world skills for the rail industry and learn about the latest technologies and developments.

This is the first of several ARA/university partnerships to offer higher education courses for the rail industry and will embrace new technologies and ensure that we attract skilled engineers early in their career.

For ARA members, the advantage of our partnership with Deakin University is that these microcredentials are available nationally. The courses bring together cutting-edge research and teaching innovation with current and emerging industry-wide practices and will feature presentations by leading experts in railway operations and infrastructure.

The courses will form part of a postgraduate degree at Deakin University and will also be offered to undergraduate students as an elective, as well as to industry professionals.

One of the microcredentials focuses on the design aspects of track infrastructure and the other explores the importance of planning and maintenance.

The two microcredentials are focused on both civil and electrical/mechanical systems:
