Last week, CEO Caroline Wilkie and GM Rail Freight and Heavy Haul Georgia Nicholls took part in an industry roundtable hosted by the National Transport Commission updating industry stakeholders on progress of the National Rail Reform Program five priority areas ahead of the first Infrastructure and Transport Ministers’ Meeting (ITMM) in June.
The ARA has been closely involved in the work across all five priority areas, but it was particularly encouraging to understand the progress being made to shape recommendations to achieve priority four (streamlining rollingstock approval regimes), which largely arose as a result of ARA advocacy and will provide significant short-term value for operators and support the industry’s decarbonisation. We look forward to sharing the outcomes of the June ITMM meeting and Communique.
