The ARA was very pleased to have both Nine News and the Gold Coast Bulletin attend AusRAIL 2024 on the Gold Coast last week to showcase the event as well as report on several key presentations. Both media outlets ran positive stories on the Gold Coast Light Rail project and included the latest updates on Stage 3 unveiled during GoldlinQ CEO Phil Mumford’s presentation.

Nine News visited several of the more than 150 exhibitors at AusRAIL and reporter Makenna Baily tried out the Siemens’ signalling simulator and learnt how Project i-TRACE was driving productivity and safety improvements in the rail industry.

The story included details from a presentation on the Gold Coast Light  Rail Stage 3, delivered by GoldlinQ CEO Phil Mumford during the conference.

The Gold Coast Bulletin also published a front-page story on the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 and an editorial in support of the project.

Phil’s presentation unveiled timelines and a flythrough and artist impression of the project and announced the first trams for the Broadbeach to Burleigh stretch are expected by Christmas 2025.

He said the northern half of the route will begin testing in late 2025, between Broadbeach and Miami, with testing on the Miami to Burleigh section to begin in early 2026. The first customers will travel the route by mid-2026.
