ARA’s CEO Caroline Wilkie, along with female representatives of the Young Leaders Advisory Board, attended the National Women in Transport event this week which had Elizabeth Broderick AO as keynote speaker. Ms Broderick, a former Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner, shared her experiences and knowledge in addressing gender parity in the Australian transport sector.
The National Women in Transport is partnering with the ARA to undertake qualitative research on the barriers and challenges hindering women’s entry, retention and progression in the rail industry, and explore best practice initiatives that foster greater balance and promote the benefits achieved through gender parity.
The National Women in Transport also hosts a Speaker Bureau which brings together a list of leading women working in transport to help demonstrate the contribution women make to transport across Australia.
