Representatives from the National Type Approval Steering Committee gathered for a workshop last week to commence planning for implementation of the new framework by mid next year.
The workshop covered the development of a national conformity assessment and discussed how to embed the new framework into each of the jurisdiction’s processes to ensure harmonisation and better enable information sharing via a national registry.
Working Groups have been formed under the guidance of the Committee, with an execution plan underway for planned go live in July, 2026.
Memorandums have now been signed between Transport for NSW (TfNSW), Department of Transport and Planning Victoria (DTP), including MTM and V/line, Queensland Rail (QR) and Transport and Main Roads Queensland (TMR), Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) and WA Public Transport Authority to implement the National Product Type Approval Framework.
