The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads provided a presentation update at the ARA’s latest National Management Plan Working Group meeting.
The update included a briefing on the establishment of the Rail Infrastructure Delivery Office, an overview of the department’s 600 per cent growth in rail investment over the past five years, and an outline of its procurement processes and details around management plans.
The working group members are currently sharing information and opportunities around efficiency improvements in their tendering practices, specifically looking at ways to streamline harmonisation management plans during tenders.
The National Management Plan Working Group held its first meeting late last year with an agenda to:
- Help procurers better understand contractors’ challenges in developing management plans when tendering;
- Help contractors better understand the use of management plans by procurers;
- Review management plans and content;
- Determine opportunities to streamline processes;
- Identify mechanism to validate accreditation and provide assurances.
This followed a roundtable held on 9 October 2023 with rail infrastructure contractors and government rail infrastructure procurement agencies to discuss opportunities to address inefficiencies around management plans.
