Together with Roads Australia and PTAANZ, the ARA released a report on Thursday following the joint National Decarbonising Transport Summit held in June in Canberra.
The Summit enabled us to identify the key issues and actions that are top-of-mind for the nation’s transport industry, in our urgent mission to reduce carbon emissions.
These issues and actions have been summarised in the report, focussing on three key priorities:
- A mode shift first approach, to get more people using public and active transport more often
- Accelerating an equitable transition to zero emission vehicles and rollingstock
- Consistently and adequately assessing whole of life carbon.
For each of these priorities, the report outlines short (six to 12 months) and medium-term (12 to 18 months) actions the transport industry – including government, private sector and industry peak bodies – needs to take.
The ARA will work with our members and collaborate with RA and PTAANZ to support the implementation of these actions.
