Several ARA members have already begun offering the ARA’s new Respect in Rail Course on their own Learning Management System (LMS), with more than 2,000 rail workers expected to complete it by late 2025. The ARA Workforce Development Team has so far supported members WSP, ARC Infrastructure, Alstom, Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator, Public Transport Authority WA and John Holland Group to implement the 30-minute, online course into their LMS, with another six members currently in the approval process.
The workforce team has also collaborated with member Auckland One Rail to provide access to Respect in Rail via a specially designed tile on the ARA LMS, including a CEO message that aligns their core values with the course. It is wonderful to see the CEO Martin Kearney supporting such an important initiative for our industry.
This Respect in Rail course is provided free of charge to everyone in the rail industry. It supports the rail industry’s shared goal of creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone and features real-world rail scenarios to help learners recognise and respond to disrespectful behaviour. It also provides effective strategies to empower staff to confidently address situations where they witness or experience such behaviour.
