The ARA is inviting members of the rail industry to the Sydney launch of its latest report, Progressing Gender Equality in the Australasian Rail Industry: Challenges and Supportive Practices, on Wednesday 17 July.
The ARA has partnered with the National Women in Transport on the report, which was prepared by Diversity Partners.
The launch will be held 9.30am-11.30am (with a panel discussion 10.40am-11.10am) at Customer Central, Transport for NSW, Level 3, 477 Pitt St, Sydney.
The significant research was conducted to:
- Investigate the barriers and challenges hindering women’s entry, retention and progression in the rail industry;
- Explain the benefits of achieving gender parity and fostering women’s leadership within the rail industry; and
- Explore best practice initiatives and provide recommendations to foster greater gender diversity, drawing on successful practices in various industries within Australia and globally.
Katie Spearritt, CEO of Diversity Partners, will present the findings of the research and key recommendations for individual organisations and across industry.
The launch will be followed by an industry panel discussion with:
- Caroline Wilkie, Chief Executive Officer, Australasian Railway Association
- Carolyn Walsh, Chair, National Transport Commission
- Katie Spearritt, Chief Executive Officer, Diversity Partners
- Matt Longland, Chief Executive Officer, Sydney Trains
- Naomi Knight, Senior Project Manager – Pre-contracts Rail and Transport, John Holland
There will also be an opportunity for networking at the event.
