The Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA) is holding a presentation on Stage 2 of the Canberra Light Rail. 

The RTSA – The Railway Technical Society of Australasia holds presentation on Stage 2 of the Canberra Light Rail. 

The RTSA – The Railway Technical Society of Australasia NSW/ACT Chapter in collaboration with the Transport Australia Society – TAS will hold an in-person presentation and networking event at Engineers Australia’s office in Canberra to provide a technical update on Stage 2 of the Canberra Light Rail at 5:45-8:30pm Wednesday 12 June. 

This week the Federal Government announced in its 2024-2025 Budget $50 million in funding for the design of Stage 2. This in-person event is an important opportunity to gain an insight into Canberra’s largest infrastructure project and discuss rail technical matters with the project’s key technical minds.  

Rebecca Want, Market Leader Transport, Sydney, GHD, and David Doctor, Acting Executive Group Manager, Infrastructure and Light Rail Program, will present at the event.

The scope of the presentation will discuss: 

  • Key technical components of the stage 2a works 
  • Engineering decisions associated with the procurement of new dual powered vehicles and retrofitting of all existing LRVs with onboard energy systems 
  • Technical challenges associated with the stage 2b scope of works.
