The ARA had the pleasure of attending RISSB’s annual rail safety conference this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a terrific event showcasing the considerable hard work the industry is engaged in to make networks safer.
The conference heard keynote presentations from the National Rail Safety Regulator Dr Natalie Pelham, who gave an update from ONRSR, as well as Carolyn Walsh, Chair of the National Transport Commission and Senator the Hon Carol Brown. The two-day event included panels with safety leaders, chief engineers, rail companies, researchers and the ATSB.
The ARA was delighted to contribute to a staged mock investigation demonstrating how regulators and investigators get involved after an incident. A significant highlight of the event was the dinner after the first day, where RISSB announced the safety awards winners and highly commended nominations across various categories. The ARA congratulates the award recipients as well as all the other people who were nominated for an award.
