Strengths and Specific Capabilities

Expertise is focused on rollingstock and multi-body vehicle dynamics, condition monitoring and non-linear system simulation and digital twins. Applications include decarbonisation, derailment simulation, energy analysis, friction and wear, hydrogen technologies, locomotive traction, product design, roadworthiness, smart sensors, train and vehicle dynamics, train control and wheel-rail contact.

Infrastructure, Facilities, Major Equipment and Onsite Technologies

CRE facilities are located at Rockhampton, Qld. A Smart Instrument Development Lab supports custom instrumentation solutions for railway systems including data acquisition and low power and compact devices. Heavy Testing Laboratory with 200 tonne strong floor, portal frames and hydraulic equipment up to 440 tonnes capability. Specialised machines for draft gear, rail joint and wear testing.
