A national safety focus

Working with the national rail safety regulator to support a national safety focus.

We continue to work with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) to support a national focus on rail safety issues. We have supported the development of the National Rail Safety Law to improve outcomes across the industry.

Engaging on key safety issues

We work closely with ONRSR on issues affecting the industry to ensure the development of safety regulations over time can be practically implemented at the operational level. Our members contribute to safety discussions on a range of issues, including fatigue management, drug and alcohol management and cost recovery.

We are also working alongside the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) to support a national approach to safety through consistent rules, standards, guidelines and codes of practice across the country.
