The ARA’s Safety Policy Committee commended the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator for its considerable engagement with industry in the delivery of the National Data Strategy and its commitment to working with industry towards continuous safety improvement.  

The strategy has been live for more than a year and is a vast improvement on the previous scheme. 

The Committee also discussed the current revision to the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers and its expected impacts on industry, and developed a response to the National Transport Commission’s consultation on the Rail Safety National Law. SPC provides the industry leadership needed on these critical safety issues. 

The purpose of the ARA Safety Policy Committee is to provide an opportunity for senior safety managers and executives to collectively discuss key safety policy and regulatory issues and assist develop industry positions. The committee also shares information on projects, activities and initiatives related to safety, with a particular focus on collectively improving the industry’s safety culture.
