The ARA’s Passenger Operators Executive Committee (POEC) met for the final time this year and discussed cybersecurity in relation to recent attacks overseas, key safety issues, operational performance and fare caps.
We discussed key drivers impacting operations, particularly when external influences come into play such as when members of the general public enter the corridor (trespass). While this is difficult to manage, it is a great credit to our railways in achieving such good technical and operational reliability.
The POEC discussed the impacts of the fare caps that have been introduced and lessons learned, as well as key safety initiatives keeping our people, our customers and the general public safe around our networks.
The POEC is an important forum not only for the work that the ARA does, but also in sharing lessons and best practice among members. It is made up of CEOs and other senior leaders of all the major passenger operations around the country and meets quarterly.
