The ARA took part in a stakeholder roundtable on the Federal Government’s Transport and Infrastructure Net Zero Consultation Roadmap this week, discussing the key opportunities and challenges facing the transport sector as it decarbonises.
The roundtable was hosted by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communities and the Arts (DITRDCA) as part of its formal consultation on the roadmap.
The discussion provided an opportunity for industry to provide feedback on proposed net zero pathways and timeframes outlined in the consultation roadmap.
The ARA will also be preparing a detailed submission in response to the consultation roadmap to highlight the key opportunities for rail to lead the transport sector’s decarbonisation efforts.
The ARA’s Rollingstock Decarbonisation Critical Path, to be launched in July, will inform the ARA’s commentary on reducing operational emissions, while other areas of focus are expected to include infrastructure planning, promoting greater use of public transport and rail freight, and reducing embodied emissions in rail projects.
To provide feedback or information to support the ARA’s submission on the consultation roadmap, please contact ARA General Manager Sustainability Joeley Pettit.
