The ARA and Tracksafe Foundation attended the yearly Industry Security Forum, which was hosted by CMET in Canberra, and brings together about 30 professionals from the transport, security and members of the police force.  

The industry security professionals, along with representatives from jurisdictional police forces, organise a Security Forum supported by the ARA and TrackSAFE Foundation.  

This year, it was hosted by CMET and comprised about 30 participants. Organisations represented included ACT Police, ARA, CMET, DIT SA, Department of Transport Victoria, Qld Police, Queensland Rail, SA Police, Sydney Trains, TfNSW, Torrens Connect/Adelaide Metro, TrackSAFE, Transdev Sydney, Victorian Police and V/Line. 

The topics of the forum included: 

  • AI & Protective Security 
  • Mental Health Co-Responder Model 
  • Influencing Security Priorities: Navigating Challenges in Trains’ Safety Culture 
  • Adelaide Metro Body Cam Trial  
  • Victorian campaign to reduce staff assaults and injuries 
  • Workplace Protection Orders – A Case Study  
  • Wanding Powers on Public Transport (Jack’s law)  
  • Roundtable discussion on how other networks manage high-risk behaviours/individuals 
  • STOP IT App Initiative  
  • Emergency Management – Victorian Context  

There were also several workshops on identifying challenges as well as sharing best practice. The event was a tremendous success with attendees reporting that the sessions were insightful and valuable. This is such an important forum as our patronage numbers grow, and as we ensure that customers are getting the service they deserve.
