The ARA’s Rollingstock Decarbonisation Working Group met this week to discuss the commencement of new research to develop a critical path to guide the transition to diesel alternatives. 

The working group confirmed plans for an industry workshop to inform the research and discussed other initiatives underway in the rail industry to support the adoption of zero or low emissions rollingstock. 

Working group members also shared updates on their own organisations’ efforts to decarbonise their operations and explored opportunities for further collaboration on this critical issue. 

The group will convene again later this month for the critical path workshop, with the project expected to be completed mid-year.
