Participants undertaking the ARA Professional Certificate in Rail course through a Metro Trains Melbourne scholarship program visited the Yarra Trams Operations Centre and the Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) Craigieburn train maintenance depot last month for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience of rail operations and maintenance.

These on-site visits are integrated into the program to provide participants with an authentic industry experience. The aspiring rail professionals come from diverse backgrounds, including emergency services, hospitality, and engineering.

Metro Trains Melbourne selected 15 candidates from a pool of 500 applicants to complete the ARA Professional Certificate to celebrate 15 years as the franchise operator of Melbourne’s metropolitan railway network.

The ARA wishes the MTM scholars well on their ongoing learning journey and looks forward to seeing them again in our five live webinars with internationally recognised rail signalling engineer expert Jane Copperthwaite, starting next week, as they begin their Rail Signalling course.
