Last week, the NTC briefed a large cross-section of industry on the progress to the industry’s National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers.
The briefing included a summary of the changes being proposed and the plan to have the updated Standard approved by Ministers. Importantly, rail companies have been provided with detail of key differences in order to prepare for the new Standard, including training doctors who perform medial assessments for these safety critical roles in our industry.
The current delivery plan would see the updated Standard come into effect late this calendar year. Thank you to the NTC for keeping key people in the industry well informed.
