This week the ARA met with representatives from Pacific National and the Freight on Rail Group, as well as Inland Rail and ARTC, to discuss the upcoming Level Crossing Roundtable to be held in Brisbane on March 6. The ARA is leading a coordinated briefing paper by industry, taking into regard the recent National Level Crossing Safety Strategy 2023-2032, in preparation for the roundtable.
The discussion included current activity to address level crossing safety, identifying potential gaps in the national strategy and a commitment by sector participants to form recommendations based on a united position to present to the roundtable and in other relevant forums with governments and policy makers.
Members are encouraged to contact the ARA’s General Manager – Freight and Heavy Haul, Georgia Nicholls if they would like to get involved in this issue or contribute to the policy brief.
