The ARA Circular Economy Working Group met this week for its first meeting of 2024, discussing key priorities for the year ahead.

The working group agreed to review materials commonly used in the rail industry to define existing and future opportunities to promote greater use of recycled, reused or remanufactured materials.

The importance of streamlining type approvals processes and ensuring consistent national approaches to support greater circularity in the rail industry were also discussed.

The working group was established following the ARA’s Circular Economy Workshop in 2023 to build on the key outcomes of the event and promote information sharing on this growing area of focus in the rail industry.
