On Tuesday, the ARA hosted the second webinar in our Passenger Rail Webinar Series focusing on NSW TrainLink.

Roger Weeks, who is two months into his new role heading up NSW regional passenger rail operator NSW TrainLink, gave a really enjoyable and interesting presentation on connecting regional communities.

It was fantastic to hear that recent patronage is at the highest level in TrainLink’s history, at 1.88 million passengers in 2023.

Roger places high importance in his people with an obvious focus on building a positive, healthy and safe workplace culture, underpinned by diversity and inclusion.

He brings with him great experience from the aviation industry as well as holding several C-suite roles at TfNSW before he became CE at NSW TrainLink in July this year.

Roger spoke passionately about the importance of regional rail services and the benefits they bring to communities and individuals. He spoke about how TrainLink is working hard to meet Government’s Strategic priorities of:

  •         A safe, equitable and integrated transport system
  •         Restoring reliability and increasing patronage
  •         City shaping and precinct making
  •         Local manufacturing and jobs
  •         Respecting and re-engaging our entire workforce

NSW TrainLink connects people and communities throughout NSW and improves transport options and outcomes for regional communities. The network includes regional train and coach services extending to more than 365 regional destinations across NSW and into ACT, Victoria and Queensland.
