This week the ARA held its inaugural meeting of the new Aotearoa Rail Committee. This group is comprised of the CEOs and senior executives of New Zealand’s key rail operators and infrastructure owners and has been established to oversee the implementation and delivery of the ARA’s Aotearoa Strategy 2023-28, as well as providing a forum for industry collaboration.
The meeting included discussion on progress against the Strategy, the development of new research projects, engagement with the New Zealand government, as well as planning and preparation for the ARA NZ Rail Summit in Auckland on 4 July.
While in New Zealand, the ARA also held several stakeholder meetings, including discussions with KiwiRail, Waka Kotahi (NZ Transport Agency) and Greater Wellington Regional Council, managers of the Metlink network in Wellington.
