The ARA’s Rail Industry Worker (RIW) program now supports close to 100,000 cardholders in the rail industry.
Emma Woods, Chief Operating Officer of the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), recently provided a broad update on the RIW Program at AusRAIL PLUS, highlighting the RIW Program’s position as a national competency and safety management system for rail workers in the Australian rail industry. The Program provides a single electronic record for workers on their health, education and competency profile as they work across projects, move between employers and operate on different state networks.
Some of the key uses for the RIW system include:
- National competency management for rail workers
- Providing Network Operators and Employers with real-time ability to ensure people are fit for work via:
-
- Medical and Drug & Alcohol management
- Fatigue management
- Management of blocks and suspensions
- Identification management
The RIW Program has continually developed, including the recent addition of over 120 standardised national roles, contributing to the program’s harmonisation goals.
We’d love to connect with you and talk through how the RIW Program can benefit your organisation and employees. Get in contact with the RIW team by emailing [email protected].
