TrackSAFE - Mental Health First Aid Course

Mental Health First Aid training for rail industry

The TrackSAFE Foundation run an accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training course for the rail industry. This is a 2 day course which teaches best practice mental health strategies. Through this course participants will gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide help to a person developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

What is MHFA?

  • MHFA is the aid given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
  • MHFA training follows the successful model of conventional first aid.
  • MHFA courses train you to give early help to those developing mental health problems and assistance in crisis situations.
  • MHFA is not therapy and does not teach participants how to diagnose.

Participants can choose to become accredited Mental Health First Aiders by participating in the 2 day course, (12 hours in total) and passing a multiple choice online quiz, (which can be taken up to 2 months following the course at a time which suits you). Becoming accredited is optional; participants may wish to participate in the course for information only.
