Building the rail network of the future

Work on major rail projects across Australia in the next five years will drive more than double the annual construction activity that we saw at the peak of the mining boom.

Landmark rail projects such as the Sydney Metro, Cross River Rail, Melbourne Metro and WA’s METRONET are transforming passenger networks in Australia’s major city centres, while the $12 billion Inland Rail project is reimagining the future of freight in the country. Significant investment in rail safety is also planned through the Level Crossing Removal Program now underway in Victoria. Australia will see over $14 billion is annual construction activity over the next five years as these significant projects are delivered.

In New Zealand, Auckland’s City Rail Link is New Zealand’s largest ever infrastructure project and will double network capacity.

These projects are shaping our cities and supporting the sustainable development of our economy and community.
